米代助教が創発的研究支援事業に採択！
2020年度「創発的研究支援事業」に米代武司助教の課題『褐色脂肪細胞の細胞系譜網羅解析と生活習慣病予防への応用』が採択されました。
【課題概要】
褐色脂肪細胞はエネルギー消費に寄与する脂肪細胞で、肥満予防のための刺激標的として期待を集めています。最近、褐色脂肪細胞には様々な種類があることが分かってきましたが、その全容はまだ解明されていません。本研究では、多様な褐色脂肪細胞とその前駆細胞のセルタイプを網羅的に同定し、細胞系譜の全容を解明します。さらに、細胞運命を規定するセルタイプ間ネットワークとその生理的意義を解明し、効果的な新規肥満・糖尿病予防法の考案に資することを目指します。
【Outline】
Brown adipocytes are specialized for thermogenesis and energy expenditure, thereby being a therapeutic target to prevent obesity. Recent studies unveiled that brown adipocytes, once thought monolithic, are composed of various, distinct cell populations. However, the developmental origin and pathways remain insufficiently understood. In this study, we will uncover cell linages of heterogeneous brown adipocytes and its precursors as well as inter-cell-type communications governing the determination of the cell fate and the physiological significance. This may lead to the development of new approaches to specifically activate certain subpopulations of brown adipocytes without unfavorable side-effects.
